The Fox Racing V3 RS Ghost Helmet incorporates Mips® Integra Split technology that combines two EPS layers designed to reduce rotational forces during impacts. The carbon fibre shell construction provides impact resistance whilst keeping weight lower than comparable fibreglass shells. DOT and ECE 22.06 certification confirms the helmet meets established safety standards, and the emergency release cheek pad system facilitates rapid helmet removal when required. Strategic induction vents, Ionic+® moisture-wicking liner, and Stone Cold® cooling material help regulate temperature during riding.
Performance Benefits
Rotational Force Management
The Mips® Integra Split system uses two separate EPS layers that can move relative to each other during angled impacts. This design is intended to reduce the rotational forces transmitted to the brain during crashes where the helmet hits at an angle rather than straight-on—the most common type of impact in motocross. By allowing controlled movement between layers, the system addresses rotational acceleration that traditional single-layer helmets don't specifically target.
Enhanced Impact Resistance
The carbon fibre shell provides superior strength-to-weight ratio compared to traditional fibreglass or polycarbonate construction. Carbon fibre's structural properties allow the shell to resist penetration and distribute impact forces more effectively whilst weighing less, reducing the strain on your neck muscles during long motos. The MDEPS™ EPS liner works in conjunction with the shell to spread impact forces across a wider surface area rather than concentrating them at the point of contact.
Emergency Removal System
The emergency release cheek pad system allows medical personnel or trained individuals to quickly remove cheek pads without taking the helmet off, enabling them to then safely extract the helmet from an injured rider. This system reduces the risk of exacerbating potential neck or spine injuries during helmet removal, and the eject-compatible design works with standard eject helmet removal tools used by medical staff at racing events.
Verified Safety Standards
DOT (Department of Transportation) and ECE 22.06 (Economic Commission for Europe) certification means the helmet has undergone standardised impact testing, penetration testing, and retention system testing to verify it meets established safety requirements. ECE 22.06 is the latest European standard with more rigorous testing protocols than previous versions, providing additional confidence in the helmet's protective capabilities.
Optimised Cooling Performance
Induction vents positioned on the top of the helmet pull air through as you ride, creating airflow across your head. The Ionic+® moisture-wicking liner pulls perspiration away from your skin, whilst the Stone Cold® material in the cheek pads (containing crushed jade) provides additional cooling effect. This multi-layer cooling approach helps prevent the heat buildup that causes discomfort and reduces concentration during physically demanding motos.
Customisable Fit System
The helmet is available in five different shell sizes matched to five different EPS liner sizes, ensuring the internal volume properly corresponds to your head size rather than just adjusting padding in an oversized shell. Three different cheek pad thickness options (thin, medium, thick) allow fine-tuning of facial fit—thicker pads create a snugger feel and reduce movement, whilst thinner pads provide a looser, more comfortable fit for longer sessions or different face shapes.
Reduced Neck Fatigue
The carbon fibre construction results in lower overall weight compared to helmets using heavier shell materials. For size Large, the helmet weighs approximately 1350g—this weight reduction becomes increasingly important during longer motos or multiple races when cumulative neck fatigue affects head position and control. Lighter helmets require less muscular effort to support, delaying the onset of fatigue that can compromise riding form.
Integrated Hydration Capability
The hydration routing system accommodates drinking tube placement from hydration packs, allowing you to take drinks without removing the helmet or stopping. The included hydration-compatible mouthpiece positions the tube correctly, and the routing channels keep the tube secured and out of the way. This becomes particularly important during hot conditions or longer motos when maintaining hydration directly affects performance and safety.
Communication System Integration
Speaker recess compartments built into the helmet accommodate most helmet communication systems without requiring modification or creating pressure points. This allows you to install intercom systems for training, coaching feedback, or team communication during practice without compromising comfort or fit, as the recesses provide dedicated space for speaker placement.
Adaptive Visor System
The 3-position breakaway visor allows adjustment of the visor angle to suit different riding positions or sun angles, whilst the breakaway feature means the visor detaches during impacts rather than transferring rotational forces to your neck. The included mud visor with foam seals the gap between visor and helmet to prevent mud spray from obscuring vision, and the clip-on extension provides additional sun protection when needed.
Premium Hardware Durability
Custom anodized visor hardware and carbon fibre D-ring fastener resist corrosion and wear better than standard steel components. The anodizing process creates a hard surface that maintains appearance through repeated adjustments and exposure to mud and water, whilst the carbon fibre D-ring reduces weight at the closure point without sacrificing strength.
